Genesis and Spirit - Intangible Cultural Heritage of China Exhibition

2011 has become a special year for safeguarding China's intangible cultural heritage. In late May, the State Council approved the third national list of intangible cultural heritage, while the Intangible Cultural Heritage Law has become effective since 1st June. This exhibition, jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's Home Affairs Bureau, sets out to strengthen exchange and cooperation between the Mainland and Hong Kong in this area and to showcase the richness of the country's living heritage. The exhibition looks at the historical development and safeguarding measures for the Mainland's intangible cultural heritage and introduces the safeguarding work undertaken in Hong Kong since enforcement of UNESCO's Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in April 2006. Engaging exhibits from both the Mainland and Hong Kong will be on display. National intangible cultural heritage bearers will also give demonstrations.
